6th ANNUAL COLLOQUIUM OF THE EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF BUSINESS IN SOCIETY (EABIS)

“The Emerging Global Governance Paradigm: The Role of Business and Its Implications for Companies, Stakeholders and Society”

20 & 21 September, 2007 – Barcelona, Spain

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

EABIS’ 6th Annual Colloquium is shaping up to be one of the most significant business-academic-stakeholder events worldwide in the field of corporate responsibility. More than 350 senior representatives are expected to join us at ESADE in Barcelona to debate cutting-edge issues on global governance and the role of business in society.

We hereby present you with some of the Colloquium highlights and encourage you to register online to assure your place. Please note that the full programme will be posted online next week on the conference website.

Delving Deep into Global Governance and the Role of Business
The 6th Annual Colloquium will create an outstanding arena for participants to engage with leaders from business, academia, policy and civil society on the emerging global governance paradigm. The conference will address this subject in plenary from four different angles:

  • The Context of Global Governance and the Role of Business in Society
  • New Forms of Global Governance – Self Regulation, Voluntary Standards and Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
  • Business, Global Governance and Global Issues – The Challenges and Opportunities of Climate Change
  • New Kinds of Leadership for Global Governance and the Implications for Management Development
  • Emphasis will be placed throughout on a high level of audience participation and a genuinely interactive debate of the core issues.

Engaging Leaders from Across the Stakeholder Spectrum
This year’s Colloquium has already attracted an excellent range of senior representatives that reflect the multi-stakeholder ethos of the event. We are pleased to announce that the following prominent figures have accepted speaking roles:

  • Dr. Polly Courtice, Director, University of Cambridge Programme for Industry
  • Prof. Ans Kolk, Research Director, University of Amsterdam Business School
  • Prof. Atle Midttun, Centre for Corporate Citizenship Director, BI Norway
  • We expect to confirm more high level speakers in the next couple of weeks, but already we are excited at the calibre of inputs that will enrich the Colloquium debate.
