Mit CSR hat sich seit einigen Jahren ein unternehmensethischer Standard etabliert, der je nach Kultur, Branche und Unternehmen verschiedentlich umgesetzt wird. In den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten (VAE) zählen unter anderem die islamische Kultur- und Rechtsordnung, die tiefe Religiosität der Bevölkerung, sowie der Einfluss internationaler Konzerne zu den prägenden Kontextbedingungen von CSR. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt sich die spannende Frage, wie es um die Umsetzung von CSR steht und wie die unternehmerischen Werte (Prinzipien) mit den religiösen Werten des Islam in Einklang gebracht werden.
