Acre is working with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to build their Sustainable Business Advisory Department at Managerial level across various regional locations.
IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in developing countries. The IFC creates opportunities for people to escape poverty and improve their lives by financing private sector growth that employs people and supplies essential services. IFC adds additional value by mobilizing capital and delivering advisory services that ensure sustainable development.
The Sustainable Business Advisory (SBA) business line builds on IFC’s mission, strategy and environmental and social performance standards to promote sustainable business practices specifically among firms in infrastructure, extractive industries, manufacturing, agribusiness, and services sectors. SBA programs encourage good corporate governance, introduce the deployment of clean energy resources, promote resource efficient technologies and business models, build the capacity of small firms, support women entrepreneurs, and promote management and investment decisions that are sustainable and inclusive.
The role of Regional Business Line Leader is to manage and drive the programs and projects across the region, overseeing key client engagement, strategy, budgets, staffing and delivery. Responsibilities include:
Developing the strategy and vision for the area
Providing leadership and overseeing implementation of programs and projects
Managing and developing staff, including resource allocation and recruitment
Developing and managing complex business relationships (client and across the World Bank)
The location requirements and technical expertise for each regional locations are:
East Asia – Jakarta, Hanoi, Beijing or Hong Kong (Jakarta or Beijing preferred) – Climate Change and/or agribusiness
South Asia – Delhi – Climate Change, SME growth, inclusiveness , agribusiness, water/irrigation
Latin America – Sao Paulo – Sustainability in Business Decisions (topics therein: watershed management, eco-system services, climate change and biodiversity
ECA – Moscow or Istanbul – Climate Change, energy efficiency, also sustainability more generally
MENA – Cairo – Generalist, SME growth, entrepreneurship, agribusiness, water management
Africa – Nairobi or Johannesburg – Sustainable agribusiness
This is a unique opportunity to provide input on global strategy within the IFC. The successful candidate will:
Be educated to Master’s degree in business, finance or equivalent professional qualification
Have extensive and demonstrable experience across capacity building or development finance related to the private sector
Have a background in environmental and social sustainability, SME growth, climate change, agribusiness, resource efficient business models and/or inclusiveness
Demonstrate hands-on experience in working with the private sector in developing countries
Have recognised project and programme management experience
Have proven managerial skills and team growth and development
