Major Responsibilities
* Initiate, cultivate and solicit individual gifts from individuals by developing and implementing strategies to expand and sustain Synergos’ support from individuals for both unrestricted and restricted purposes
* Conceptualize, design and manage an individual giving program that includes an annual appeal, a major fundraising event (University for a Night), and a major donor program including special capital campaigns
Key Functions
* Contribute to the development of a values based culture at Synergos providing leadership around organizational values
* Develop and execute new fundraising strategies for Synergos which increase individual contributions and help meet the growth targets set by the organization
* Create a major donor program that cultivates and solicits major donors including managing visits to major donors by the CEO and Chair, attending meetings as necessary, creating briefs and crafting strategy and an “ask” for each individual
* Develop and manage an Annual Campaign among individuals, corporations, and foundations
* Produce Synergos’ major fundraising event, University for a Night including sponsorship solicitations, ticket sales, event planning, and coordination of event committee to maximize impact and donations
* Assess the fundraising potential of programmatic plans with a special eye on individual funders
* Develop new prospects and expand the base of individual major gift donors through research and outreach, special events, online giving and other activities
* Work with program staff to craft an appropriate relationship with members of the Global Philanthropists Circle
* Maintain stewardship with donors through regular contact with current, past and prospective donors by visits, phone and written communications
* Work with communications and program staff, board and management to develop a communications strategy for individual donors so they receive regular updates on Synergos activities
* Help design and execute special campaigns
* Plan and execute special events designed to cultivate and recognize donors
* Maintain prospect/donor tracking through Raiser’s Edge
* Manage a process of donor acknowledgement and recognition
* Contribute to the development of a values based culture at Synergos providing leadership around organizational values
* Support and contribute to activities throughout the organization as needed
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
* At least eight years of experience working for a non-profit organization in individual giving and a track record in raising funds from individuals through annual and capital campaigns
* Experience planning and executing successful fundraising events
* Experience developing and managing donor stewardship program
* Proven ability to plan and organize work, taking into account strategic priorities, time and resource constraints
* Abilities to develop and implement strategies, undertake research, manage data
* Outstanding written and spoken communication skills
* Ability to listen, learn from and teach others
* Ability to develop and oversee budgets
* Team player with good interpersonal skills, able to work within and manage diverse groups
* An entrepreneurial mindset, able to identify and pursue opportunities
* A demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards and values consistent with those of Synergos
* A collaborative approach to working with internal and external colleagues to maximize the effectiveness of projects and programs
* Availability for overseas travel
