LSE research fellowships on international dimensions of CSR and climate change

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

The School of Economics is seeking to appoint two research fellows (2-year appointments) to work on international issues of corporate social responsibility and climate change. Please see the description below, and feel free to forward to suitable candidates.

Closing date: 27 July 2007

LSE/Alcoa Foundation Research Fellowships on Sustainability and Governance

Salary £29,322 pa inc. Fixed-term for 2 years from October 2007 onwards

Following the award in 2005 of the Alcoa Foundation’s Conservation and Sustainability Fellowship Programme to the Centre for Environmental Policy and Governance at LSE, we are currently seeking to appoint two more research fellows.

Since 2005 four fellows have been recruited to conduct research on selected aspects of sustainability and environmental governance. The 2007 fellows will look at the application of environmental governance in two thematic areas.

The first fellow will be expected to combine theoretical understanding with empirical analysis to address corporate social responsibility (CSR) and global governance. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: the internationalisation of CSR schemes; the role of NGOs in corporate governance; issues and trends in global corporate accountability; and the interactions between CSR schemes and international governance.

The theme of the second fellowship is managing climate change in developing countries. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: policy mechanisms to support abatement; the regional or domestic politics of climate change; the economic impacts of climate change and adaptation; adaptation planning in water or energy decision-making; and issues of equity in developing countries’ responses to climate change.

You should already hold a PhD in a related area, have well-developed critical skills, be an outstanding communicator in both written and verbal forms and be motivated and well-organised. A good record of publications is desirable.
