12 December, 2006
Cranfield School of Management, UK
Designed by Cranfield School of Management in partnership with Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration (HWZ).
Seminar Themes and Objectives
In recent years pressure has increased on firms to develop their strategies in ways that are responsible and take account of multiple stakeholders. Businesses now need to create both shareholder value and be responsible – it is no longer a case of “either/or”. With this in mind, the conference will take as its theme “How to Deliver Value from Best Practice in Managing Relationships with Stakeholders”.
The conference will be led by two of Europe’s leading researchers in the field of strategic stakeholder management, Dr. Lance Moir of Cranfield and Prof. dr. Sybille Sachs of Zurich, together with fellow academics and business executives who will present good practices in the operationalisation of the stakeholder view of the firm. Leading practitioners offering their experiences and perspectives will include: John Swannick, CSR Director at Lloyds TSB; Esther Baur, Head of Issue Management at Swiss Re; and Barbara Dubach, Head of Sustainable Development Communications at Holcim.
Combining EABIS Corporate Funded Research Streams
With both institutions grounding their research work in the everyday reality of management application, the event will focus predominantly on practitioners and look to present best practices of strategic stakeholder management and how to deliver shareholder and stakeholder value. To accomplish this, it will draw together two important streams of research that have been developed under the EABIS Corporate Funding Programme: “The Stakeholder View of the Corporation” led by Prof. Sachs and “Measurement of Corporate Responsibility” led by Dr. Moir and Cranfield colleague Dr. Mike Kennerley.
