BNFL has a long-standing commitment to transparency and accountability. For nearly 30 years BNFL has reported on environmental and social issues, and sought to engage its stakeholders on issues of relevance to them. As well as reporting on corporate responsibility performance over the last financial year BNFL has taken the opportunity to look back over its history, to identify the highs and lows which have shaped the company’s approach to its stakeholders, and to see how far it has come in terms of reporting. The report also looks to the future, to how the individual businesses will build on the solid corporate responsibility foundations which BNFL has established and how they will continue to report their activities to stakeholders

The report is independently assured by Ernst and Young LLP using the Institute of Social and Ethical Accountability’s AA1000 assurance standard and the International Federation of Accountants’ International Standard for Assurance Engagements Other Than Audits or reviews of Historical Financial Information (ISAE3000). It also includes an index of compliance against GRI.
