Baxter International Inc. has released its 2005 Sustainability Report:75 Years of Saving and Sustaining Lives, covering the company’s social, economic and environmental performance. The report demonstrates the breadth and depth of Baxter’s sustainability performance, and commemorates the company’s 75th anniversary of innovation and leadership in healthcare through historical photographs and company milestones.
The report is aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines and features in-depth reporting across key sustainability topics, including sustainability strategy; corporate governance and business practices; employees; environment, health and safety; product responsibility and community support. Additionally, it covers Baxter’s economic impacts and the sustainability performance of the company’s global supply chain. The report provides a balanced view of Baxter’s programs and performance through extensive performance data, case studies and personal perspectives of external sustainability experts.
2005 report highlights include:
Total 2005 environmental income, savings and cost avoidance of $85.8 million;
New 2010 environmental, product stewardship, occupational health, safety and industrial hygiene goals;
Charitable giving of more than $35 million by Baxter and its foundation;
Discussion of Baxter’s sustainability priority setting process and the formation of a cross-functional Sustainability Steering Committee; and
Participation in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s 100,000 Lives Campaign.
