RWE npower has published its Corporate Responsibility Report for 2005 ‘Powerful Responsibility’ which covers RWE npower’s performance in achieving the targets set last year, and continued efforts to integrate the concept of corporate responsibility (CR) into all aspects of the business. It is also an opportunity to set out the improvements which the company will be pursuing over the course of the next year and to invite discussion with all those who influence or are affected by its activities. Key achievements in 2005 included:
Investing £319 million in cleaner generating plant and environmental and efficiency
improvements;
Significant reductions in the number of complaints to the customer watchdog,
energywatch;
Launching the Spreading Warmth programme bringing many programmes to assist vulnerable customers under one umbrella, and renewing their commitment to Health Through Warmth programme through a further investment of £3 million;
Contributing over £1 million through a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support;
Delivering diversity awareness training events for senior management and developing diversity action plans for each business unit;
Over 1,000 employees volunteering to take part in community projects
Achieving a ranking of joint 14th in the Business in the Community’s (BitC) Corporate
