Participants from all over the world will meet in Accra, Ghana to learn about challenges of implementing the Global Compact principles and partnerships for development. The meeting targets managers and other experts from business, civil society and labour that are working on corporate citizenship, sustainability and partnership issues.
Objective of the Learning Forum Meeting is:
to give managers of Global Compact participants world wide the opportunity to share their experience and to explore their existing challenges and dilemmas in implementing the Global Compact.
to contribute to the empowerment of these managers in their role as internal change agent for corporate citizenship within their companies and organizations.
to contribute to build an international network of experts and practitioners who are the driving force for the implementation of the Global Compact and its principles throughout the world.
The meeting is learning-oriented and will focus on the following topics:
Business, Human Rights and Labour Rights
Business and Conflict
Business and Community Relations
Collective action against corruption
Partnerships for economic development and environmental sustainability.
While case studies and sharing of experiences will be a common thread throughout the meeting, participants will also be offered the opportunity to discuss THEIR questions and to explore amongst each other some potential solutions and approaches. Therefore, the meeting will be managed according to the Open Space Technology.
Participants can also join for a field visit prior to the Learning Forum Meeting. The field visits will be organized as a learning experience around an existing challenge of a company in Ghana.
The Meeting will be organised in partnership with the Centre for Corporate Citizenship of the University of South Africa and UNDP Ghana. Further support on the learning methodology is provided by the UNISA and the OASIS School of Human Relations.
