Themes from the report include:
Energy-efficient home appliances
Environmental compatibility and energy efficiency are key features of innovative and user-friendly home appliances. However, large home appliances have an average lifespan of 13.7 years so the efficiency measures adopted by manufacturers frequently remain ineffective. The report provides evidence that early replacement of appliances can benefit the environment. 21 percent of new-production BSH refrigerators already have an A+ or A++ consumption rating, while the proportion of BSH washing machines bearing the A plus “extra-efficient” label stands at 42 percent.
Responsible globalization
BSH and the Bavarian Business Association (vbw) held a conference “Global responsibility - between the ideal and the reality”. At this event representatives from industry, the scientific and political communities, the media and various associations debated the options for responsible globalization.
Continuous training and development of employees
BSH has for many years placed a high priority on enhancing the skills of its workforce, and has established its dual training model at its sites in China and Turkey.
BSH presents ecological plant oil stove for developing countries
As a contribution to global sustainable development, BSH is putting its core competence in cooking in a plant oil stove for developing and emerging countries. The report includes a brochure on the plant oil project.
With sales of more than 7.3 billion euros and a workforce numbering more than 35,500 Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances Group (BSH) is currently the world’s third-largest company in the home appliance sector. BSH manufactures its products in 43 factories, with over 70 companies across 44 countries.
