Holcim Ltd publishes SD Report 2005 - ReportAlert.info!

Swiss global cement producer Holcim Ltd has published its sustainability report for 2004/2005. The Group is well on track to achieving its sustainability targets and has set further targets in the area of atmospheric emissions and occupational health and safety. The report shows that:

  • Net CO2 emissions per tonne of cement have been reduced by 14.7 per cent since 1990. The voluntary target of a 20 per cent reduction by 2010 is therefore within reach. For the first time, CO2 data have been assured by an external auditor.
  • Groupwide, the output of NOx, SO2 and dust per tonne of cement is to be reduced by 20 per cent by 2010 compared to 2004 levels.
  • The frequency of accident-related absences is to be reduced by 30 per cent annually over the next three years.
  • In total, roughly one percent of consolidated net income before taxes was spent on community projects, donations and charity.

    • The efforts of Holcim are increasingly being acknowledged by the outside world, as illustrated by the company’s recognition as “Leader of the industry” in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2006 and the various awards received by Group companies.

    The sustainability report includes all business areas of Holcim and is the second to be issued by the Group in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines.
