Johnson Matthey publishes 2005/06 CSR Report – ReportAlert.info!

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Johnson Matthey is pleased to announce the publication of its 2005/06 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report.

This, the fourth annual presentation, describes the company’s environmental, social and economic contribution to sustainable business development during the company’s 2005/06 financial year. The report is published on Johnson Matthey’s website www.matthey.com and is available in PDF format at www.matthey.com/cr/csr.htm. A summary of the CSR report is included in the company’s 2006 Annual Report.

Over the last few years, Johnson Matthey has received valuable feedback from its shareholders, CSR analysts and other professionals as well as from the general public. This feedback has been very helpful in putting together the 2005/06 report which the company hopes will demonstrate ongoing CSR improvement.

Johnson Matthey believes it makes a significant contribution to sustainable business development through the ingenuity of its people, its commitment to investment in research and development and in world leading manufacturing technology and the generation of profits. Many of its products and technologies have a particularly positive social and environmental impact. They range from anticancer compounds to emission control technologies for cars, trucks and buses, with the latter making a vital contribution to improving air quality and public health around the world. In addition, Johnson Matthey products and technologies have a significant role to play in the energy sector as we strive for improved energy efficiency, cleaner lower carbon fuels and ultimately the transition to hydrogen as a key energy carrier in conjunction with carbon capture and sequestration. Johnson Matthey’s activities in addressing the challenges of future energy supply and alternative energy sources are described in a special case study in this year’s report.

Johnson Matthey is a speciality chemicals company focused on its core skills in catalysts, precious metals and fine chemicals. The company has operations in over 30 countries and employs around 7,700 people. Its products are sold across the world to a wide range of advanced technology industries.
