HSBC, one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, has today published its 2005 corporate social responsibility (CSR) report. The report is intended for those with an interest in the progress HSBC has made in managing its corporate responsibilities, and is available online: www.hsbc.com/csrreport
The theme of this year’s report is the role of financial services in responding to climate change. In the report, you will find examples of HSBC’s leadership in this important area, including the Group’s commitment to carbon neutrality and its carbon neutral pilot project. You can also find out about HSBC Group’s sustainable business strategy and efforts to manage both sustainability risks and opportunities.
The CSR committee of the HSBC Holdings plc Board continues to guide the Group across the spectrum of complex social, ethical and environmental issues, and the report highlights recent progress.
New content in the report includes a table tracking progress during 2005 on commitments HSBC made in last year’s report, as well as providing commitments for 2006
CSR reporting has also been adjusted to reflect better the Group’s ‘Managing for Growth’ strategic plan.
