Monday, April 24th, 2006

Akzo Nobel has published its Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2005 which gives details of a steadily improving sustainability performance worldwide and highlights the company’s strong progress in reducing its environmental impact, particularly in the area of energy consumption.

Online Version: www.akzonobel.com.
Feedback and order for printed copies: ancsr@akzonobel.com

The 2005 Report includes hard data on the company’s performance in a number of key areas such as energy efficiency, product stewardship and business integrity, as well as containing strong examples of how Akzo Nobel is contributing to improving society around the world.

Building on last year’s inaugural publication, the 2005 Report is more tightly focused on hard facts regarding the company’s overall Triple P performance and was once again prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines.

Highlights of the report include strong data on the company’s strong energy-reduction performance and efforts to develop more effective and environmentally-friendly products and processes, while at the same time minimizing or eliminating waste streams. The report also includes details about the company’s commitment to product stewardship and innovation, in terms of technical excellence and social and environmental impact, as well as local community involvement and partnerships with governments and international organizations.

The report also reflects Akzo Nobel’s commitment to “export” its values throughout the entire supply chain and to create a stronger and more attractive value and performance-driven culture for its employees.

Akzo Nobel is a Global Fortune 500 company and is listed on both the Euronext Amsterdam and NASDAQ stock exchanges. It is also included on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and FTSE4Good Index. Based in the Netherlands, Akzo Nobel is a multicultural organization serving customers throughout the world with human and animal healthcare products, coatings, and chemicals. Consolidated revenues for 2005 totalled EUR 13.0 billion.
