BG Group has published its 2005 Corporate Responsibility Report, which covers policies and performance in four areas of Corporate Responsibility: conduct, people, society and environment. The report is verified by Ernst & Young.
Key events described in the report include:
Revised Business Principles were agreed, following consultation with employees and external organisations
60% of operations are certified to the revised ISO 14001 standard
Around 1 100 people were recruited
The lost time injuries rate for employees and contractors was 0.5 per million hours worked
Six contractors died in three incidents in Egypt and Kazakhstan; the STEP UP safety initiative was launched in October
Greenhouse gas emissions from BG Group operated assets rose by 23%; emissions per unit of throughput rose by 8%
Net reduction of carbon dioxide emissions facilitated by Comgas (public gas distribution business in Brazil) exceeded 1.5 million tonnes per year
