The 2005 report, published as a companion to the company’s annual report, quantifies Catalyst’s progress toward its corporate social responsibility vision and goals and presents key measures of its social, economic and environmental performance.
Some highlights of Catalyst’s 2005 performance:
Joined the WWF’s Climate Savers program, pledging to achieve a sustained 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over 1990 levels by 2010
Exceeded its Climate Savers goal, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 71% below their 1990 level
Recorded its safest year ever, with one mill named the safest in Canada for its category
Increased diversity for board of directors and executive
Achieved performance improvements of CAD$84 million, 5% over target
Awarded for quality and service by key customers, including Verizon Information Services, Vertis, AT&T Yellow Pages and Dow Jones
