BAE Systems recognises its responsibilities to the people it employs, its customers and suppliers, its shareholders, the wider community and to the environment. It is a well managed and ethical company and is determined to be recognised for its world class technology, skills and the seriousness with which it takes corporate responsibility.

BAE Systems see social, ethical and environmental issues as important to its business performance, presenting both risks and opportunities. CR is embedded across its global operations and overseen by a newly established Corporate Responsibility Committee at board level who review and monitor the management of CR risks and assist the Board to develop strategy and policy.

This year’s report highlights include:

  • A summary of the work carried out with PwC to obtain an independent analysis of the issues relevant to BAE Systems CR reporting and an understanding of the priority stakeholders and their key concerns.
  • Four feature pieces looking at key issues for the business with external commentary from the Institute of Business Ethics, the Confederation of Ship Building and Engineering Unions and Robert Barrington from F&C Asset Management.
  • A question and answer session on key issues facing the defence industry
  • A new issues section which acts as an easy reference guide to issues material to the business
  • External assurance and commentary provided by the Corporate Citizenship Company.
