EIBE (European Institute for Business Ethics) is the institute for business and professional ethics at Nyenrode Business Universiteit, established in 1994 by the then chair in Business Ethics, Professor Henk van Luijk. Today it is one of the leading institutes in its fields.
EIBE is an independent, academic, non-commercial organization whose aim is to:
Develop, implement, and transfer research, through education, training, consultancy and information services;
Do so on the basis of a clear vision of the ethical foundation of economic and organizational activities;
Enhance ethical awareness; the assessment of processes and outcomes; the adjustment of structures, culture and technologies; and to increase ethical accountability;
Do so within Europe-based business organizations, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations.
EIBE performs research, provides education and training, and offers consultancy services. The institute’s objective is to study and clarify the way in which organizations execute their activities in the light of their moral and social responsibilities. In addition, EIBE aims to be an intermediary in the social debate on organizational ethics and related issues. EIBE also serves companies, governmental authorities and non-governmental organizations in the development, implementation and evaluation of activities that contribute to sound and responsible business practice.
Our basic principle is that organizations, managers, staff and professionals who are willing and able to assume personal responsibility make an important contribution to the quality of society.
In doing so, we especially address:
the enhancement and organization of integrity,
corporate social responsibility
socially responsible investment.
In these areas, the institute combines independent academic research with an approach focused on practice. Before we engage in the thought process regarding possible solutions, we first analyze the context of the issues regarding responsibilities. Practical tools are provided on the basis of a solid foundation.
