The Centre for Accounting Ethics was established in 1991 through a grant from the Auditing and Accounting Development Fund. In supporting projects designed to enhance the teaching of ethics to accounting students and the research of ethical issues in accounting, the Centre aims to help prepare future accountants and auditors to exercise professional judgement within an ethical framework and to promote high ethical standards.
The Centre makes available copies of completed project outputs to interested Canadian academics for use in their courses and, from time to time, issues calls for proposals for ethics projects that it could fund.
Reflecting it’s diversity, individuals involved in the Centre for Accounting Ethics represent varied academic communities including the Francophone community and all three of the accounting profession’s bodies in Canada. Consequently, several of the individuals involved with the Centre have professional accounting designations.
